creative renewal

Tonight at Sola, we talked about God's creativity. I feel like my eyes have been opened to this again and again recently--in nature, in the people I meet (so many different personalities and passions!), in poems read and music heard and in his book. One of my favorite things about God is that he uses the people who are seen as worthless,down-and-out chumps to do his work. Jesus' disciples were just a couple'a average joes. Daniel was just a lowly jew in the midst of Baal worshipers. Paul WAS a chump before Jesus broke through to him...and then he became the greatest missionary this world has ever seen. Amazing.

What attracts us to creativity? To creative people? We decided tonight that it's just the newness of it/them. The refreshing ah-ha moment it gives us. The way it inspires US to be creative. We were made to love it. And as part of God's creation, just as the trees and the grass and the flowers and so many animals come alive again each spring, God gives us the chance to be constantly renewed.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day." -2 Cor. 4:15-17

"...and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." -Colossians 3:10

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" -2 Cor. 5:17
